Volunteer Position: Van Lang Millennium Learning Centre Computer Volunteer
Number of Volunteers Needed: 6-10

Location: 29 Van Lang Private
Time and Days: Various

  • Tuesday: 6:00pm-8:00pm;
  • Wednesday: 9:30am-12:00pm; 4:00pm-12:00pm;
  • Thursday: 6:00pm-8:00pm
  • Friday: 9:30am-12:00pm

    Volunteer will report to: Andrea Reid, Health Promoter
    Team: Health Promotion and Counselling Team
    Commitment: Ongoing, one year minimum

Goal of the program:
Community computer access where the general public can access computers, gain computer skills, and access the Internet in a supportive environment.

Description of Volunteer Role:
• Supervise community access of 2 desktop computers
• Sign in computer users
• Provide support to community members wanting to use the computers
• Promote a safe, secure and welcoming environment for participants

Qualifications:
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet
• Patient, open-minded, non-judgmental, excellent interpersonal skills
• Sensitive to multicultural issues and to issues facing low-income population
• Good communication skills, ability to speak in English. Other languages considered an asset
• Ability to commit to 1 year of volunteering
• Punctual, reliable, and dependable
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to obtain an appropriate Police Records Check
