Youth Drop-In Support Worker

Part-time, one night per week until November 2018

The Youth Drop-In Support Worker (YDSW) assists the Youth Outreach Worker (YOW) with the activities of the Youth Drop-In program.  This program promotes and enhances the effective integration and quality of life of youth by providing individual practical support, referral, advocacy, and cultural interpretation, particularly for multicultural youth.

As a non-profit organization, we are accountable to our community for providing quality care.  For this reason, we can only consider applicants who clearly describe how their education, skills, and experience match each of the qualifications listed below in a separate 2 – 3 page attachment submitted with a résumé and cover letter.


  • High school diploma; related post-secondary education in progress required.
  • Experience providing or assisting with community programs for youth.
  • Leadership training such as Beyond Basketball, High Five, etc., an asset.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and responsible individual committed to the healthy development of children.
  • Familiar with Ontario Curriculum for Grades 7-12.
  • Experience and interest in working with marginalized and diverse clientele, such as low-income, high-needs, newcomer, and a variety of multicultural communities.
  • Experience in a non-profit, community-based organization.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, oral and written, in English.
  • Ability to work in a computerized environment using the internet and email.
  • Fluency in in English and in a language reflective of our client population (Arabic and Somali especially needed) is required.  Fluency in French preferred.

Salary: $16.91 per hour + 4% vacation pay
