Title: Directeur, Services communautaires et de santé Carlington Community and Health Services Corporation Board of Directors.

Reports to: Membership at large.

Terms: Three-year terms as defined in By-Law.

Purpose: To serve the board as a voting member; to develop policies, procedures and regulations for the operation of Services communautaires et de santé Carlington Community and Health Services Corporation; to monitor finances of the organization, its programs and performance.

Expected meeting attendance:
• regularly attend meetings as scheduled (about 11 per year);
• participate as a member of a Board standing or ad hoc committee (1 per month);
• attend board retreats, in-service workshops and other board development activities;
• attend and participate in special events as needed;
• leave of absence of up to one year will be considered on an individual basis for exceptional circumstances e.g. mat leave, studies etc.

Obligations of the Board:
• establish policy;
• hire, supervise and evaluate the Executive Director;
• secure adequate funds;
• monitor finances;
• maintain, update and monitor strategic plans.

Specific duties:
• attend meetings and show commitment to Board activities;
• be well-informed on agenda items in advance of meetings;
• contribute skills, knowledge and experience when appropriate;
• listen respectfully to other points of view;
• participate in organizational decision-making;
• assume leadership roles in all board activities, including fund-raising;
• represent the organization to the public, government and private industry;
• maintain awareness of the needs of the people we serve;
• advocate on behalf of the organization.
